What kind of art shows work at LUME?
Solo exhibitions, group shows, gallery pop-ups, art fairs, curator-led shows, NFT and digital art exhibitions, photography shows, sculpture installations, and immersive multimedia art. Both emerging and established artists. The space scales from intimate 40-piece shows in the lofts to large-scale installations across the entire 5,400 sq ft.
How long can I rent the gallery space?
From a single opening night to multi-week exhibition runs. Most art gallery rentals at LUME are between 3 days and 3 weeks. Longer-term residencies are available by arrangement, particularly through SUBJECTIVE.art partnerships.
Can the walls be used for hanging artwork?
Yes. The Immersive Studio has white-painted walls suitable for direct hanging with picture rails and standard installation hardware. The lofts have brick, cast iron column, and wood-clad sections that can be used as architectural backdrop or covered with display walls if a clean white-cube aesthetic is needed.
What lighting is available for the artwork?
Permanent RGB Astera spotlights with full color control, camera-ready ambient lighting, and track lighting in the lofts. Lighting can be tuned per piece and per gallery section. For immersive or projection-based work, the 360° projection mapping system can serve as an active visual layer alongside the physical work.
Do you host art openings and receptions?
Yes. Full bar service, catering coordination, music infrastructure, and event production are available for opening nights. Many galleries book an opening reception followed by a multi-week exhibition run with daily public hours.
Can I show digital art, video art, or projection-based work?
Yes. LUME has 16 projectors with 360° immersive coverage, 17-speaker JBL spatial audio, and DMX-controlled lighting. The space was built for projection-mapped and screen-based art. Many shows combine physical work with projected layers.
How does LUME compare to a traditional NYC gallery space?
Traditional NYC galleries are white cubes optimized for one type of show. LUME is a multi-floor exhibition space with architectural character, modular display options, and the technical infrastructure to handle immersive and projection-based work alongside traditional hung pieces.
