Where beauty brands run masterclasses guests can't stop sharing.
Plan Your Beauty Event →A beauty masterclass is half education, half spectacle. The ones that work give every guest a clear view of the artist's technique, products in their hands so they can follow along, lighting that makes the demonstration look as professional as the brand's campaign imagery, and an environment that feels worth the social post. The ones that fail miss one of those four things.
The most common failure mode is sightlines. Guests in the back can't see the artist, so they stop following along, scroll their phones, and the tutorial loses the room. The second is lighting that flattens the colors, so swatches look different on camera than in person and the brand reshoots the whole event for usable content. The format that solves both is the live-projected masterclass: a camera captures the artist's hands and face, the feed projects across the walls in real time, and every guest (front row or back) sees a 6-foot-tall version of every brushstroke. Combined with camera-ready lighting and an immersive branded backdrop, the masterclass becomes content guests post about, brands capture as marketing, and editors write about.
LUME Studios is the NYC beauty event venue brands and PR agencies trust for masterclasses, launches, editor previews, and influencer activations. Our 5,400 square feet at 393 Broadway combines 360° projection mapping, RGB Astera spotlights with full color control, vanity stations, and on-site catering through LOFT 4's kitchen. Brands we've worked with include Patrick Ta Beauty, TRESemmé, Amika, Nordstrom, and Olay. TRESemmé's 72-hour New York activation featuring beauty masterclasses earned 195 media placements and 5.8 billion impressions per Glossy.

LOFT 4 hosts intimate beauty events for up to 35 guests, ideal for one-on-one editor previews, beauty press dinners, and exclusive influencer experiences with full kitchen for catering.

LOFT 2 is your primary beauty masterclass space, supporting up to 60 in classroom or U-shape seating with vanity stations, ring lights, makeup areas, and product display setups.
Doors open at 6:30 PM. Guests arrive to immersive walls displaying the brand's hero campaign and a step-and-repeat moment for arrival photos. They check in, get gifting bags, and move into LOFT 2 where 60 vanity stations are pre-set with tonight's products. The artist takes the stage at 7. A camera captures their hands. The feed projects across the walls behind them, so every seat has a perfect view of every technique. Guests follow along with the products. The brand's creative director does a mid-event founder talk projected on the walls. At 8:30, guests move upstairs to LOFT 4 for a press dinner and Q&A. By 10, the team has 800 photos, 40 video clips, and 200 organic social posts going up.
Glossy reported that experiential beauty marketing in NYC is one of the highest-ROI channels for both legacy and indie brands. The reason: a beauty masterclass produces three things simultaneously. Editorial coverage from journalists who attend. Organic social content from every guest, which compounds the campaign's reach for free. And brand education at scale, because a 60-person masterclass turns 60 people into product advocates. The venue determines whether all three happen or none of them do.
Masterclasses are one of five formats we run for beauty brands. The others: editor previews (intimate format in LOFT 4 for senior writers), influencer gifting events (vanity activation in LOFT 2 plus reception in the Immersive Studio), product launches (custom 360° brand environments), and full-day press days. See our beauty event services for the full production stack, or browse past beauty events for what we've built for Patrick Ta, TRESemmé, and Amika.
