Panel discussion at LUME Studios with immersive backdrop

Listening parties at LUME are produced with the same care as the records they're rolling out. The 17-speaker JBL spatial audio system reproduces the album the way the artist mixed it. The 360° projection walls can run custom visuals synced to each track. Guests sit, the artist gets on the mic, the album plays through in full, and the room delivers the rollout moment the label paid to produce. Capacity scales from a 30-person inner-circle listening session in LOFT 4 to a 150-person industry showcase in the Immersive Studio.

LUME Studios is the Tribeca listening party venue major labels, artist management, and music brands book when the album rollout is the moment that matters. Productions and listening events at our space include Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Burna Boy, 50 Cent, Peggy Gou, and Fabolous. 5,400 square feet at 393 Broadway with private entrance, in-house event production, and a five-minute commute from the offices of every major label in Lower Manhattan.

How It Works

What to expect

How a listening party actually runs at LUME

A label books the venue 2-3 weeks before the album drops. Guest list: 60 people. A&R from competing labels, key journalists, streaming editorial, and the artist's inner circle. Doors open at 7 PM in LOFT 4 for cocktails. At 8, everyone moves to the Immersive Studio, transformed into the album's visual world with custom 360° environments built specifically for this rollout. The artist gets on the mic, introduces the project, and the album plays in full through the 17-speaker JBL spatial audio system. Custom visuals sync to each track. After the playthrough, the room transitions back to reception mode. By the time everyone leaves, the rollout has its first wave of editorial coverage and social posts going up.

The audio system is the difference

Most NYC event venues use audio systems built for amplification, which is the opposite of what an album needs. Listening sessions need fidelity. The 17-speaker JBL system at LUME was specced for music playback specifically. Stereo separation reads clearly. Bass response is even from front to back. Vocal mixes sit where the artist placed them. Guests hear the album the way it was mixed, not how it sounds at a club. That distinction is the entire reason labels book this room for pre-release listening sessions.

Pre-release listening vs. post-release celebration

Listening parties are intimate, music-first, pre-release events. The room is configured for attention to the music. The album release party (which can also happen at LUME) is the post-release celebration with a bar program, DJ, and larger guest list. Many label rollouts use both formats: a listening party 2 weeks before release for press and industry, then an album release party on drop day for the bigger crowd. Frequently asked questions

What kind of listening parties work at LUME?

Pre-release album listening sessions for invited press and industry, single drop parties, mixtape and EP releases, label sampler showcases, and intimate artist-led playthroughs. Both major label and independent artist productions. Capacity ranges from a 30-person inner-circle session to a 150-person industry showcase.

What is the audio system?

17-speaker JBL spatial audio system tuned for music playback fidelity, not just amplification. The system reproduces stereo and immersive multichannel mixes the way the artist mixed them. Every seat in the room hears the album the way it was meant to be heard.

Can the visuals match the album?

Yes. The 360° projection walls and floor can run custom visuals synced to each track. Album cover art, music videos, abstract visualizers, or fully custom branded environments. Labels often book the projection mapping content production as part of the listening party engagement so the visual rollout matches the audio rollout.

Have major labels hosted listening parties here?

Yes. LUME has hosted listening sessions and music industry events for Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Burna Boy, 50 Cent, Peggy Gou, and Fabolous among others. Major labels, artist management, and music brands consistently return to the space for high-stakes industry moments.

Is the space discreet for celebrity-attended events?

Yes. Private entrance, no lobby signage, press list and security management included for high-profile bookings. Artists arrive without becoming the story.

How is a listening party different from an album release party?

A listening party is typically pre-release, intimate, and focused on the music itself. Guest list is press, industry, and inner circle. An album release party is post-release, celebratory, and more like a club event with the album playing. LUME hosts both. See our album release party page for the post-release format.
