Overview

A music industry event sits at the intersection of art, business, and media. Listening sessions feel like intimate audio experiences but function as the moment labels lock in industry support before an album drops. Album release parties feel like celebrations but produce the editorial coverage and social content that powers the rollout. Music video premieres are art reveals and content drops at the same time. The format that ties them together is high-stakes hospitality: invite the right people, make the music sound the way the artist intended, give the press something visual to write about, and protect the artist from the parts of NYC the artist's team would rather not deal with.

The infrastructure that makes these events work is specific. Premium sound is non-negotiable for a listening session because the artist mixed the record assuming a high-fidelity playback environment. Discreet logistics matter because celebrity arrivals through a busy lobby become the story instead of the music. Camera-ready lighting and clean visual backdrops matter because the photos and video coming out of the event are what the campaign actually runs on. Most NYC venues book music events as one-off party rentals. The venues the industry returns to handle them as productions.

LUME Studios is the NYC music industry event space major labels, artist management, and music brands trust for high-stakes industry moments. Productions and landmark events at our space include Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Burna Boy, 50 Cent, Peggy Gou, and Fabolous. Our 17-speaker JBL spatial audio system, 360° immersive projection walls, discreet private setup, and in-house event production team make us the venue of choice when the music industry needs a moment to land. Located at 393 Broadway, five minutes from the offices of every major label and management company in Lower Manhattan.

How It Works

How a listening session actually runs at LUME

A label books the venue two weeks before the album drops. Guest list: 80 people. A&R from competing labels, key journalists, the artist's team, streaming editorial, and a tight inner circle. Doors open at 7 PM in LOFT 4 for cocktails with the artist. At 8, everyone moves to the Immersive Studio, transformed into the album's visual world (custom 360° environments built specifically for this rollout). The artist gets on the mic, introduces the project, and the album plays in full through the 17-speaker JBL spatial audio system. Custom visuals sync to each track. After the playthrough, the room turns back into a reception. By the time everyone leaves, the rollout has its first wave of editorial coverage and social posts going up.

Why labels and management book LUME instead of nightclubs or studios

The standard alternatives in NYC are nightclubs (designed for parties) and recording studios (designed for production). Neither is built for the kind of high-touch hospitality an album rollout actually needs. Nightclubs have terrible sightlines, mediocre audio for serious listening, and lobby setups that make celebrity arrivals impossible to manage discreetly. Studios have the audio but not the hosting infrastructure. LUME splits the difference: theater-grade audio engineered for music, full bar and catering, discreet private entrance, dedicated press coordination, and a multi-level layout that lets the artist retreat between rounds.

Premieres, mixers, and the rest of the calendar

Listening sessions are one of seven formats we host for music industry clients. Music video premieres play the video at scale on the immersive walls, then transition into celebration parties. Album release parties get the full production treatment with custom branded environments and same-day content delivery. Industry mixers, press days, A&R showcase events, tour announcements, and music tech brand activations round out the calendar. Each format has its own production approach. Visit our music video production page for production-focused capabilities, and past work for landmark events. Book a walkthrough to see the system in person.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of music industry events do you host?+

Listening sessions, album release parties, music video premieres, label industry mixers, A&R showcases, music tech brand activations, music journalism press days, artist-management media days, and tour announcements.

Have you hosted notable music artists?+

Yes. Productions and landmark moments with Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Burna Boy, 50 Cent, Peggy Gou, Fabolous, and dozens of other major artists across hip-hop, pop, electronic, and global genres.

Can the space be set up for a listening session?+

Yes. The 17-speaker JBL spatial audio system was specced for music fidelity. Every guest hears the album the way the artist mixed it. The 360° immersive walls let you sync custom visuals to the music for an audiovisual listening experience.

Can we host a music video premiere?+

Yes. Premiere the video on the immersive walls at scale (the visuals fill the room rather than playing on a 75-inch screen), with theater-grade sound, then transition into a celebration party with full bar service.

Is the space discreet for celebrity-attended events?+

Yes. Private entrance, no lobby signage, press list and security management included for high-profile bookings. See our past music events for examples.

How does the space compare to other NYC music venues?+

Most NYC music venues are either nightclubs (designed for parties) or recording studios (designed for production). LUME is built specifically for what the industry actually runs: listening sessions, premieres, mixers, brand activations. Audio engineered for music. Walls engineered for content. Location built for celebrity arrival logistics.
