What kind of podcasts work at LUME?
Video podcasts of all formats: two-host interview shows, multi-guest panels, culture and hip-hop podcasts, live audience tapings, and brand-produced podcast series. The space is built for podcasts that prioritize video production quality, not just audio.
Have major podcasts recorded here?
Yes. The Angie Martinez Show records at LUME regularly. The Joe Budden Podcast has also recorded here. The space is a familiar name in NYC's hip-hop and culture podcast circuit.
Do I need to bring my own camera and recording gear?
Most crews bring their own cameras, mics, and producers. The room, lighting, electrical infrastructure, and immersive projection backdrops are included. If your team prefers to focus on the conversation and outsource the production, LUME offers full in-house filming and audio recording as an upsell, including editing.
Can LUME film and record the entire podcast?
Yes, as a premium add-on. LUME's in-house production team can handle multi-camera filming, audio recording, lighting, and post-production editing end-to-end. This is a separate engagement from the studio rental and quoted per project.
Can we shoot a podcast with a live audience?
Yes. The Immersive Studio holds up to 350 standing or roughly 100-150 seated for a live taping. Projection walls become the show's branded backdrop, and the audience experience matches a real live event rather than a corporate viewing.
Is the space quiet enough for a podcast?
Yes. The lofts have minimal street noise, soft furnishings that reduce reflection, and no exterior windows on the main shooting floor. Audio engineers consistently capture clean tracks straight off the mics in a controlled production environment.
How does LUME compare to a typical podcast studio?
Most NYC podcast studios are one fixed-set room with branded merch on the wall. LUME is a multi-floor production space where the backdrop changes per show, the lofts give the podcast a real-world aesthetic, and the Immersive Studio can host a live audience when the show scales.
