Panel discussion at LUME Studios with immersive backdrop

Podcast studio rentals at LUME are for crews that arrive with a producer, a host, and a clear shoot day in mind. The space gives the podcast a real production look. 14-foot tin ceilings from 1867, exposed cast iron columns, immersive 360° projection walls that can become any backdrop the show needs. Plus the quiet, controlled environment a podcast actually requires. No coffee shop noise. No Zoom-grid backdrop. The room shows up on camera.

LUME Studios is the Tribeca podcast studio rental hip-hop and culture podcasts book when the visual quality of the room matters as much as the audio. The Angie Martinez Show records at LUME regularly, and The Joe Budden Podcast has also recorded here. 5,400 square feet across three floors that scale from a two-person interview to a full live audience taping. Crews bring their own cameras and gear, or upsell to LUME's in-house team for full filming, audio recording, and editing.

How It Works

What to expect

How a podcast actually shoots at LUME

A producer books the studio for a half or full day. The crew arrives with mics, mixers, and cameras. The room is already configured. LOFT 2 for an intimate two-host setup with the SoHo cast iron loft aesthetic in frame. LOFT 4 for shows that want a residential, modern feel with the kitchen behind. The Immersive Studio for tapings with a live audience or branded backdrop where the projection walls become a custom set. Loading dock access on Broadway means heavy gear doesn't get carried up stairs.

The visual upgrade that matters

The biggest difference between a podcast that grows and one that plateaus is whether the show is watchable, not just listenable. Spotify, YouTube, and Apple all reward video podcasts now, and the room is most of what a viewer notices. LUME's projection walls let the show change its backdrop per episode, per guest, per season. A music podcast can put the artist's album visuals behind them while they talk. A tech podcast can run live B-roll on the walls. A culture podcast can build a set that matches the show's brand identity without paying for a physical build.

The full production option

The studio rental is LUME's primary offering: book the room, bring your crew, shoot your podcast. For teams that want to outsource the production entirely, LUME's in-house team can handle multi-camera filming, audio recording, lighting design, and post-production editing as a separate engagement. The same crew that has produced campaigns for Apple, Amazon, and Patrick Ta Beauty can also produce your podcast. Quoted per project. See past productions or book a walkthrough.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of podcasts work at LUME?

Video podcasts of all formats: two-host interview shows, multi-guest panels, culture and hip-hop podcasts, live audience tapings, and brand-produced podcast series. The space is built for podcasts that prioritize video production quality, not just audio.

Have major podcasts recorded here?

Yes. The Angie Martinez Show records at LUME regularly. The Joe Budden Podcast has also recorded here. The space is a familiar name in NYC's hip-hop and culture podcast circuit.

Do I need to bring my own camera and recording gear?

Most crews bring their own cameras, mics, and producers. The room, lighting, electrical infrastructure, and immersive projection backdrops are included. If your team prefers to focus on the conversation and outsource the production, LUME offers full in-house filming and audio recording as an upsell, including editing.

Can LUME film and record the entire podcast?

Yes, as a premium add-on. LUME's in-house production team can handle multi-camera filming, audio recording, lighting, and post-production editing end-to-end. This is a separate engagement from the studio rental and quoted per project.

Can we shoot a podcast with a live audience?

Yes. The Immersive Studio holds up to 350 standing or roughly 100-150 seated for a live taping. Projection walls become the show's branded backdrop, and the audience experience matches a real live event rather than a corporate viewing.

Is the space quiet enough for a podcast?

Yes. The lofts have minimal street noise, soft furnishings that reduce reflection, and no exterior windows on the main shooting floor. Audio engineers consistently capture clean tracks straight off the mics in a controlled production environment.

How does LUME compare to a typical podcast studio?

Most NYC podcast studios are one fixed-set room with branded merch on the wall. LUME is a multi-floor production space where the backdrop changes per show, the lofts give the podcast a real-world aesthetic, and the Immersive Studio can host a live audience when the show scales.
