For Puma's collaboration with artist Shantell Martin, LUME went far beyond hosting: we designed the entire retail environment, managed fabrication of custom plinths and product displays made to our drawings, and produced the vinyl installation that carried Martin's signature line work across the space.
Puma's collaboration with artist Shantell Martin came with an unmistakable visual identity: her continuous black-and-white line work. The pop-up had to feel like stepping inside that identity, not a store with artwork on the walls, but a space drawn in her hand.
The brief to LUME went beyond venue. Puma needed the entire environment designed, built, and installed: display architecture, product presentation, and the artwork itself translated onto the surfaces of the room.
LUME designed the complete spatial experience for the pop-up at 393 Broadway's street-level storefront.
Custom plinths and product display systems were designed by LUME and produced to our drawings, retail architecture purpose-built for the collection rather than pulled from stock.
Martin's line work was produced and installed as large-format vinyl across the space, turning walls and surfaces into a continuous drawing that framed every product moment and photo opportunity.
A storefront on Broadway that read as the collaboration itself, the artist's hand at architectural scale, with the product presented inside it rather than in front of it.
The project shows the agency model working end to end: one team responsible for spatial design, fabrication management, and installation, from concept to opening day.
